Skills Connect for Immigrants Program

Get more skills to get the job you want

Employers and communities in British Columbia need skilled workers for many occupations. If you have skills, qualifications and experience and you want more training or certification and employment in your field or need to develop skills to obtain a better job, then this program can help you! Participants receive individual, one-on-one support.


You are eligible if you:

  • Became a permanent resident of Canada within the last 5 years
  • Are unemployed
  • Need to develop skills
  • Employed but not using your skills
  • Speak English at an intermediate level or higher
  • Can pay for one-third of the tuition required for training

Our program will:
  • Assess your skills, qualifications and experience
  • Provide career counselling with one on one support
  • Help you get training and certification
  • Improve your workplace English
  • Upgrade employment skills
  • Provide job orientation

80% of those who completed the Skills Connect for Immigrants Program have found good jobs.

Creative Employment Access Society to deliver this program.

The Skills Connect for Immigrants Program is part of WelcomeBC, a suite of programs funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. WelcomeBC helps newcomers settle, integrate and find employment in their new communities.
