Defining a Welcoming Community

Help draft a definition of a 'Welcoming Community'.

On December 16, the WICR attempted to create a working definition of a Welcoming Community. We broke into five small groups of four or five, and each person responded to the question: "Thinking about a time you were in a new environment, such as a new community, school, workplace, team etc. what helped you to feel welcome? Consider ’who, what, when, how’ made you feel welcome?

Dimensions of Diversity

At the December 16 session, the WICR explored the Dimensions of Diversity. The purpose of the excercise was to help each of us contemplate the breadth of diversity in our community ( and of course, everywhere, amongst all people) and to affirm that this project is not excluive of anyone. We acknowledge that this isn't an exhaustive list, and that also it is important for individuals to see themselves represented, therefore, our 'Dimensions of Diversity' can continue to grow if we see a need. I hope Meaghan and I were able capture your thoughts, ideas and dimensions of diversity.

A round of introductions

Hello all,

Feel free to reply to this thread with an introduction of yourself and perhaps elaborate a bit on how/why you can see your organization getting involved in this project.
